From Brexit to pensions

Employers will be given guidance on a range of issues, from the right to work in the UK after Brexit to pensions, in a series of meetings across the country.

The roadshow will provide employers with a toolkit providing everything they need to know about employing people.

Organised by SAC Consulting – part of Scotland’s Rural College, the roadshow will visit towns all over Scotland, from Dumfries to Thurso.
Key subjects will include:

  • Telling the difference between a self-employed contractor and an employee
  • The right to work in the UK and changes related to Brexit
  • Tax and National Insurance – what you need to pay
  • Payroll Systems and Auto-enrolment on pensions

Agricultural Consultant Mhairi Dalgliesh, who is organising the roadshow, said: “Taking on outside labour in the farm business is becoming an increasingly complex situation, particularly for those using ‘self-employed contractors’ who are, retrospectively, deemed to have been employees by HMRC.

“This roadshow will assist with how to tell the difference between self-employed contractors and employees to avoid farming businesses being hit with significant bills for tax and national insurance.â€

will take place in Perth on Tuesday 21 January and the will be in Dumfries on Thursday 6 February. All meetings will be a 7pm for 7.30pm start apart from on Wednesday 29 January, which will be held from 1-3pm. Refreshments will be served at all meetings.

The events are free to attend but must be booked in advance.
